Ketchup
Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 01:24AM After another week-long grind dealing with the user pool, it didn’t take much for my BFFs to peel me away from my laptop and Blackberry. Actually, it never takes much. I’m a huge proponent for work-life balance.
So we decided to try a new Hollywood hot-spot eatery, popularized by L.C. and gang from MTV’s reality TV series The Hills. Ketchup is situated on the infamous Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, right across Sunset Plaza. We typically don’t hang out on that end of Hollywood since that’s where all the tourists and aspiring somethings and somebodys hang out and think obnoxious behavior is welcomed—NEWSFLASH: IT’S NOT! My girlfriends and I are all native “Angelenos,” so we have every right to call it out.
Nonetheless, the BLT Kobe Beef Sliders were all the rage, so we’ve heard. We arrived in 100% Hollywood fashion; 35 minutes late for our reservation, decked out from head to toe, and ready for a night out to sample $20 burgers. The place was swarming with “The Hills” and “Making the Band” type posers. (Welcome to Hollywood; not to mention T-Pain was playing at The House of Blues a couple of blocks away.)
We started at the bar while waiting to be seated. The vibe was very cool and “loungy.” The music was current—rock, pop, hip-hop fusion. The place was decorated with all things Heinz Ketchup; very Andy Warhol. The drinks were strong. I tried a martini iteration called Basic Instinct and it was fantastic! Bring on the Kobe Beef sliders and 3-Some Fries...well, they actually are all the rage!
So there it is…my 5 minute plug to the Dolce Group. Thanks for another great establishment!
